Before you agree on a set sum of child support, please be sure that you speak with an attorney as there may be serious consequences to the entry of a court order for child support, such as the possibility of being convicted of contempt of court for failing to pay your court-ordered child support. Alternatively, you may accept a child support amount far lower than a court would order based on California’s child support guidelines.
Property Division: The time of a divorce or legal separation is also a time of property division.
