Free Initial Consultation
The initial consultation will be provided to you free of charge. During this valuable and important conversation with the attorney, you will be able to discuss your questions and concerns. If you are in the process of a divorce or other family law matter, please bring your court documents with you to maximize the benefit of this experience. At this point, both the attorney and the potential client will be able to determine if they are a good fit to work together.
Court Costs
In order to initiate a divorce, legal separation, annulment, or paternity case, the Los Angeles Superior Court requires a fee of $320.00 per party. Additionally, in order to have a court hearing for temporary orders of child custody, child or spousal support, attorney’s fees, or any other issues, the court requires a fee of about $40.00 in Los Angeles County. In certain circumstances when a party is considered “low income,” the court can waive these initial costs. However, the majority of individuals are expected to pay their own court costs.
Our Rates
Attorney’s fees are always negotiable and the Law Offices of Beatriz Pelayo-Garcia prides itself on offering community attorney rates of $200 - $300 per hour, depending on the complexity of the case. Your case will require an original retainer which will vary from $2,000 to $5,000. While no attorney can estimate of the total amount of attorney fees since it often depends on the actions of the other party, the attorney and client will regularly meet to determine the most cost-effective and necessary services. This law firm performs its legal services while being cognizant of the client’s bottom line.
